About The Secret of Langton Manor, Episode 1: Legacy
Langton Manor is an episodic printable escape room by the solo developer bromelain.mobi. You explore an old English mansion full of hidden secrets, solving puzzles, uncovering clues and decoding cryptic messages to move from room to room. Episode 1, Legacy, is free; episodes 2 to 4 and a hand-drawn edition are sold on itch.io for a few dollars each.
The difficulty is rated three moons out of five and the author admits in the comments that the first episode is a little harder than the second, so use the hints. The companion app, built in Godot and opened from a link or the QR code in the booklet, verifies answers, offers graded hints and tracks progress, which makes it a comfortable solo game or a date-night puzzle for two. The free edition uses public-domain and AI-assisted imagery, which the page states openly.
How to play in one minute
- Download the A4 or US Letter PDF, print it single-sided in black and white, and get pens, scissors and a ruler.
- Open the companion app from the link on the itch.io page or scan the QR code in the printout.
- Read the story pages in order and solve each puzzle; some need you to cut, fold or measure.
- Type each answer into the app’s digital lock; it confirms or nudges you with a hint.
- Reach the end of the episode to learn the first secret of the manor; episode 2 continues the story.
What’s in the PDF
- 12 pages, available as two files: A4 (most of the world) or Letter (North America), about 42 MB each because of the full-page imagery.
- Printer-friendly black and white, single-sided, so puzzles can be cut without losing the back.
- No answer key in the file: answers live in the free app.
- A phone, tablet or computer with a browser is needed for the companion app.
