About this maze

A five-pointed star with a maze inside, for children aged about 4 to 7. The thick walls and short route make it a good first shaped maze, and the points of the star create natural dead ends that are easy to spot and back out of. It fits a space theme, a ‘star of the week’ reward or a bedtime puzzle.

What’s in the PDF

  • Page 1: the star-shaped maze (12 × 12 grid, 48 cells), with Start and Finish marked by arrows.
  • Page 2: the solution, a red path 14 cells long.
  • Black and white, US Letter with 18 mm margins, so it also prints on A4 at 100 % scale.

Tip: Count the points together before starting: knowing that only one point leads out helps younger children plan instead of scribbling.
