About this printable Fox and Geese board

Fox and Geese is one of Europe’s oldest asymmetric board games, played on the cross-shaped board also used for peg solitaire. This Fox and Geese game board printable from PrintablePaper.net (Savetz Publishing) gives you the board, a red fox, thirteen white geese and the rules on two pages that print well in black and white.

The fox captures geese by jumping over them and can chain jumps. The geese cannot jump; they win by hemming the fox in. Children learn it in minutes.

How to use it

  1. Cut out the fourteen pieces, or use a coin and thirteen buttons.
  2. Place the geese on the marked points and the fox in the centre.
  3. The geese move first. Pieces move one step along a line; only the fox jumps, over a single goose to an empty point.
  4. The geese win by trapping the fox; the fox wins by taking enough geese that it cannot be trapped.
