About Bandido Covid-19 edition
Bandido is a cooperative card game by Martin Nedergaard Andersen in Helvetiq’s Pocket Games collection. In the original, a bandit tries to tunnel out of jail. In this free print-and-play edition, made during the Covid-19 lockdowns, the escapee is a virus, and the cards also show everyday prevention gestures such as hand-washing and keeping your distance.
The rules are the same as the boxed game, so it is a free way to learn Bandido. It is a good first cooperative game for children from age 6, and it also plays solo. Helvetiq suggests letting younger players help with the cutting.
How to play in one minute
- Put the starting card with the virus in the middle of the table, shuffle the rest into a draw pile and deal 3 cards to each player.
- The youngest player starts. On your turn, place one card so it fits perfectly against one or more cards already on the table, then draw a new card.
- If you cannot play, put your cards under the draw pile and take three new ones.
- Talk about the best move, but do not show your cards to the others.
- You win together if every tunnel is blocked. If a tunnel is still open when the cards run out, the virus escapes and you all lose.
