About Dungeon Pages: Core Set
Dungeon Pages is a solo roll-and-write dungeon crawler designed by Jason Greeno and Jason Tagmire and published by PNP Arcade. Each quest sheet holds a hero, with their health, abilities and progress, and five dungeons: four minor ones and a boss. You explore each dungeon by writing dice results into its squares, fight the monsters drawn on the map, pick up loot and work your way to the treasure chest. The Core Set was nominated for the 2023 Golden Geek award for Best Print & Play Board Game.
PNP Arcade sells the Core Set on itch.io as name your own price, so you can enter 0 and download it for free. BoardGameGeek gives 20 to 30 minutes per quest and ages 8 and up. It is a good fit for solo players who want a dungeon crawl that fits on one sheet of paper; the series has since grown with year-long adventure sets and other spin-offs.
How to play in one minute
- Pick a quest sheet and a dungeon. Take the number of Evil Dice shown for it and add one Good Die, plus any extra Good Dice you have unlocked.
- Roll all the dice. Natural doubles on the Evil Dice mean a wandering monster hits you for 1 damage, and every undefeated monster whose trigger matches an Evil Die attacks you.
- Then use the dice one at a time: write each value in an empty white square within range of one of your weapons, starting from the door or a square you already marked.
- Numbers that meet a monster’s defence defeat it; adjacent doubles collect items. Monsters, walls and uncollected items block your range.
- Escape by building a path of numbers that go up or down by at most one from the door to the treasure chest. Earn experience, level up, and take on the boss once the four minor dungeons are done.
