About Pandemic: Hot Zone – North America
Pandemic: Hot Zone – North America is a compact version of Matt Leacock’s cooperative classic. You and your team travel between cities from Montréal to Ciudad de México, treat disease cubes and race to discover cures before outbreaks spiral out of control. Z-Man Games gives away the full Pandemic Hot Zone print and play edition on the game’s page, along with the rulebook and extra rules.
It is the best way to try Pandemic for free. There are only three diseases, a single research station in Atlanta, and cures need four cards instead of five, so games are short and tense. It suits 2 to 4 players from age 8, and the solo rules let one player run three roles.
How to play in one minute
- Assemble the four board pieces, deal roles, and infect the starting cities as the rules show.
- On your turn, take 4 actions: move, treat disease, share knowledge or discover a cure.
- Draw 2 player cards. An Epidemic card raises the infection rate and intensifies the spread.
- Draw infection cards and add cubes. A city with too many cubes triggers an outbreak into its neighbours.
- You all win by curing the three diseases, and all lose if the outbreaks, the cubes or the player deck run out first.
