About The Pumpkin Patch Mystery

The biggest pumpkin in town has vanished from the patch on the morning of the Halloween fair, with the judging only hours away. A kid and a grown-up follow the wagon tracks to find it. One player is in the pumpkin patch, the other holds the detective notebook, and neither can solve a lock alone.

This is the gentle sibling of The Last Trick-or-Treat from CouchEscape, written for ages 7 to 12 playing with an adult. It is not scary at all: four gentle puzzles and three endings, all of them happy. Because the clues are split, the child has to read and describe, and the adult has to listen, which makes it a good first escape room for a reader who is still building confidence. The same room plays free in the browser if you prefer two screens.

How to play in one minute

  1. Print the PDF and split the pages by the name at the top: one player takes one side, the other takes the rest.
  2. Do not show each other your pages; read your clues out loud instead.
  3. Each lock needs something from both players. Cards marked to open after a certain lock stay face down until then.
  4. Stuck? The hints at the back come one at a time, and the answers are last.
  5. Solve the final lock to find the pumpkin and read your ending.
