About this printable snakes and ladders board

This printable snakes and ladders game from PrintablePaper.net (Savetz Publishing) is a bright one-page board: squares 1 to 100 winding up the page, wooden ladders and cartoon snakes in different colours. There is nothing to cut out and no rules page, because a five-year-old already knows them: climb the ladders, slide down the snakes, be first to 100.

The game comes from ancient India, where ladders stood for virtues and snakes for vices. It is pure luck, which suits young children, and counting squares is good practice. Our snakes and ladders rules page covers the house rules families argue about, such as needing an exact roll to finish.

How to use it

  1. Print the board, on card stock or laminated if you want it to last.
  2. Each player puts a counter before square 1 and rolls one die in turn.
  3. Land at the foot of a ladder to climb it; land on a snake’s head to slide to its tail.
  4. The first player to reach square 100 wins.
