About Dracula’s Feast: New Blood

Dracula’s Feast: New Blood is the second edition of Dracula’s Feast, redesigned by Peter C. Hayward and Tom Lang with new art by Michael Dashow, published by Jellybean Games. It is a deduction game for 4 to 8 players: every guest at Dracula’s dinner has a unique identity and a special ability, one guest lies face down as a Mystery Guest, and the first player to accuse everyone correctly wins. The second edition trims the cast to ten guests, adds a second Mystery Guest in four-player games and tidies the rules; a refused dance now lets you inquire of someone else instead of ending your turn.

Games run 10 to 15 minutes for ages 10 and up, with more to deduce the more players there are. It is the first game in the Masquerade series, and Night of the Mummy can be mixed in. Jellybean Games offers the rulebook and card sheets free for personal use on its print-and-play page, so the download button goes there.

How to play in one minute

  1. Choose the guests for your player count (6 for 4–5 players, up to 9 for 8), always including Dracula; leave out the advanced guests (Alucard, the Witch, Zombie) while learning. Lay out their accusation cards and give each player a Yes and a No whisper card.
  2. Put one chosen guest face down as the Mystery Guest (two with 4 players), shuffle Dracula back in and deal one guest to each player.
  3. On your turn, inquire (ask a player if they are a specific guest; they answer with a face-down whisper card), dance (ask a player; if they accept you show each other your cards, if they refuse you inquire of someone else), or accuse.
  4. To accuse, reveal your card and place an accusation card in front of every unrevealed player. They each pass a whisper card; shuffle them and reveal.
  5. All Yes: you win. Any No: the game goes on, the whisper cards are reshuffled, and you keep playing face up. Many guests have their own way to win, such as Van Helsing naming Dracula.
