About Spot It! (Dobble)

Spot It!, sold as Dobble outside North America, is the speed-matching card game designed by Denis Blanchot, Jacques Cottereau, Guillaume Gille-Naves and Igor Polouchine. Every card carries a handful of symbols, and any two cards share exactly one. Asmodee’s Print & Play site offers a free Dobble print and play demo kit, so you can try printable Dobble cards before buying the tin.

It suits families with children from age 6, classrooms and anyone who wants a game that teaches itself in thirty seconds. The same page also offers a Spot It! activity sheet and colouring pages, which are activities rather than the game.

How to play in one minute

  1. Shuffle the cards. Deal them out or stack them, depending on the mini-game you choose.
  2. Turn a card face up in the centre so everyone can see it.
  3. Everyone looks at the same time for the one symbol their own card shares with the centre card.
  4. The first player to name the matching symbol out loud takes or plays that card.
  5. When the cards run out, the player who collected the most cards (or who got rid of theirs first, depending on the mini-game) wins.

What’s in the PDF

  • The “Demo Kit” file listed under Games on the Spot It! page: a reduced deck of printable cards and the rules (Asmodee does not state the exact card count).
  • Separate Activity Sheet and Coloring Pages files on the same page.
  • Downloads open after you sign in with a free My asmodee account. We could not open the file, so the page count and paper size are not listed here.
  • Print in colour on thick paper or card stock; the symbols are easier to tell apart in colour.
