About Unfair

Unfair is a theme-park building card game for 2 to 5 players designed by Joel Finch, illustrated by Mr Cuddington (David Forest and Lina Cossette), with extra cards by Philippe Poirier and card backs by Nicole Castles. You build up to five attractions, stack upgrades on them, hire staff and chase secret blueprints, while everyone plays events at each other: inspections, intrusions, lawsuits and worse.

The print and play from 2am Gameworks, the designer’s company, is the full base game for personal use, not a demo: all six original theme packs (Gangster, Jungle, Ninja, Pirate, Robot, Vampire), the board, reference sheets and tokens. You shuffle one pack per player into shared decks, so each game differs. Allow about 25 minutes per player; it suits players aged 14+ who like interactive engine-building.

How to play in one minute

  1. Shuffle one theme pack per player into shared Park, Event and Blueprint decks. Each player takes 20 coins, a Gate card, a Loan card, 5 Park cards and 2 Showcase cards; six Park cards form the Market.
  2. Each of the 8 rounds opens with events: draw one, reveal a City card that affects everyone, then take turns playing events or passing.
  3. In the Park step everyone takes three actions in turn: take a card, build an attraction or upgrade by paying its price, demolish, or collect loose change.
  4. Your park then earns coins from its stars, capped by guest capacity.
  5. After the last City card, score tall attractions, blueprints, staff and coins; the most points wins. For a first game, the First Date Game Changer cuts play to six rounds.
