About Goblin Teeth

Goblin Teeth is a dice-bidding game for 2 to 5 players designed by Frank Tedeschi, with art by DreamWorks animator Derrick Nau, developed and published by Jellybean Games. The goblin Big Boss wants a set of shiny things, and the first goblin to bring the right offering wins. Each round a row of item cards goes up for auction, one of them face down. Everyone rolls three dice and places them one at a time as bids, with two goblin rules: your dice on one item may never add up to more than ten, and you may never tie another player’s bid.

The fun is in the Cheat cards. Put a die on the altar instead of bidding and you draw one; they let you reroll, move or steal dice, and a well-timed cheat can push a rival’s bid over ten and wreck it. Games run 20 to 30 minutes and the publisher lists ages 8 and up. The print-and-play lives in a Google Drive folder linked from the Jellybean Games print-and-play page; it is free for personal use, so we link rather than host.

How to play in one minute

  1. Shuffle the item deck and the Cheat deck. Put a random red and a random blue offering card on the offering mat (the orange offering is printed on the mat). Each player takes a reference card, one Cheat card and three dice of one colour.
  2. Start a round by dealing one item face down (the hidden item) and face-up items until the pot has one card per player. Everyone rolls their three dice; a triple must be rerolled.
  3. On your turn, play any number of Cheat cards, then place one die on an item in the pot or on the altar. An altar die lets you draw a Cheat card or discard the ongoing Cheat cards in front of any player.
  4. When the last die is placed the round ends: each item goes to its highest bidder, hidden item included. Whoever took the hidden item goes first next round; anyone who won nothing draws a Cheat card.
  5. The game ends when a player holds every item on one offering card. Ties go to the harder offering, then to the most goblin teeth.
