About the Escape Team Instant Escape Room Kit
This is the free starter kit Escape Team publishes for people who want a personalised escape room at a birthday, an office party or a chemistry class without designing one from scratch. It contains five puzzles that already work as a mission: a cut-out puzzle, a quiz, a dialling puzzle, a secret alphabet and a short scavenger hunt. Each puzzle ends in a five-digit code.
What makes it playable rather than just a template is the pairing with the Escape Team Mission Editor, a free web tool. You enter the five solution codes (printed on the kit page), set a countdown, add up to seven hints per puzzle and, if you like, your own MP3 narration. The editor returns an Escape Code; players type it into the free app and the mission runs itself. Sarah and Fabian, the couple behind Escape Team, suggest 2 to 4 players per device.
How to play in one minute
- Print the 7 pages, cut out the puzzle pieces and hide them in the locations the cheat sheet suggests (envelopes make it easier).
- In the Mission Editor, enter the five codes from the kit page, a duration and some hints, and save to get an Escape Code.
- Hand players a phone with the free app and the Escape Code loaded.
- They solve the phases in order and type each code into the app.
- The “mission success” text appears when all five are solved in time; put the location of a treasure chest in it for a prize.
