About Concept
Concept is a guessing game by Alain Rivollet and Gaëtan Beaujannot, published by Repos Production in 2013. Instead of drawing or acting, you point at universal icons on a big board (colour, animal, round, music, film) and build up the idea step by step. Asmodee’s free “Concept Demo” is a printable Concept board game you can try at home.
It shines with a group of 4 to 12 teenagers and adults who like Pictionary or charades but want something calmer. Nobody needs to be good at drawing; you only need to think about how other people classify things.
How to play in one minute
- Two players team up as the clue-givers and secretly read a word or title from a card.
- They place a main marker on the icon that best describes the general idea (for example “object” or “person”).
- They add smaller markers on other icons to refine it: colour, size, material, place.
- Everyone else calls out guesses freely. The clue-givers cannot speak, only move markers.
- The first player to guess right scores, and so do the clue-givers. After the agreed number of rounds, the highest score wins.
What’s in the PDF
- One “Concept Demo” file listed under Games: the icon board, a selection of word cards and the rules.
- Downloads open after you sign in with a free My asmodee account. We could not open the file, so the page count and board size are not listed here.
- Print in colour. The board is easier to use on a large sheet, or taped together if it is split across pages.
