About the Beach Scavenger Hunt for Kids
MyKidsTime, an Irish family website running since 2007, made this one-page beach hunt for seaside days. The sheet asks “Can you find them all?” and lists 20 things: a white shell, waves, a sandworm pile, a smooth stone, driftwood, a crab shell, footprints in the sand, a yellow shell, something metal, a boat, a seagull, sea glass, a buoy or marker, a blue shell, a tidepool, a sea creature, something green, a speckled stone, seaweed and something pretty.
It mixes things you can pick up with things you can only spot, which keeps toddlers and ten-year-olds equally busy, and the site suggests following it with a shell craft at home. It also nudges players to pick up any litter they find. The PDF is a direct link on the page; the newsletter signup box is separate and optional.
How to play in one minute
- Print one sheet per child (or one for the family) and pack a pencil and a bucket.
- Read the list on arrival and agree what counts: a photo of the boat, a shell in the bucket.
- Explore the sand, the rock pools and the tide line, ticking items as you go.
- Play it as a race between siblings, or as a team against the clock before the picnic.
- Full card wins; take the collected shells home for the craft on the site.
