About the Indoor Scavenger Hunt for Kids
Most scavenger hunts name objects. This one from Britni Vigil of Play Party Plan names qualities instead: something green, something flat, something fun, something that sparkles, something unique. Children decide what fits, which makes a rainy-day hunt around the house more creative and a little longer, since one object can only count once even if it is red, flat and shiny all at once.
It suits children from preschool (with an adult reading) to tweens, and it works for one child or several: print a card each and let them hunt separately, or do it together. The file is free; enter your first name and email address in the form on the post and the site emails a link to the PDF.
How to play in one minute
- Request the PDF through the form, print a card per player and hand out pens.
- Read the list together so younger children know what each description means.
- Send everyone off around the house; an item can only be used for one line.
- Bring finds back to a table, or photograph them with a phone, to prove each match.
- First card fully ticked wins, or just enjoy the show-and-tell at the end.

- Colour printing looks best; laminate and use dry-erase markers to replay it.
- No answers, since any object that fits a description counts.
