About the Falcon Expansion
Carcassonne: The Castle is the two-player Carcassonne by Reiner Knizia and Klaus-Jürgen Wrede, played inside the walls of a castle instead of an open landscape. The Falcon Expansion is a free add-on that Knizia, Wrede and Hans im Glück publish only on knizia.de. It adds chapels, falcon aeries, gates in the wall and two special followers per player.
You need The Castle to play: the expansion uses all of its rules and pieces. It is for owners who know the base game well and want more ways to score. The site asks you to print at actual size so the new tiles match the originals.
How to play in one minute
- Insert the 4 gates into the scoring wall at the spaces they show. Gates are skipped when you count points.
- Shuffle the 18 new castle tiles in with the base tiles, put the aerie tokens within reach, and give each player a king and a falconer.
- Play as in The Castle. A completed chapel scores for the player with the most followers on it, from 1 point for one tile up to 36 for eight or more.
- When a feature linked to an aerie scores, its owner takes aerie tokens. A falconer adds one more; a king doubles that feature’s points.
- At the end, the player with more aerie tokens scores the largest group of empty connected spaces. The highest score wins.
