About the Chocolate Factory Escape Room

Mr. Wibble Wobble owns a chocolate factory, and he has forgotten the names of his secret ingredients. The game starts when you hand the children a Wibble Wobble bar wrapper with a golden ticket inside: to escape the factory, they must find the clue cards, solve them and gather the answers for the final code.

Mary of My Party Games drew all the graphics herself and offers the game free for personal use. It is aimed at ages 7 or 8 and up, because players need to read and to spell some words backwards; younger children can join older ones. One child can play alone, or teams of up to four. Fans of the classic chocolate factory story will spot a few nods, such as a square sweet that looks round.

How to play in one minute

  1. Print the clue cards in colour and hide them in different parts of the room. Keep the final sheet and the answer keys.
  2. Wrap the golden ticket (around a real chocolate bar if you like) and hand it to the players.
  3. Each clue card carries part of the story and a puzzle; players solve them and note the answers.
  4. Clue 5 is a box to cut and fold into a cipher decoder, which they also need for puzzle 8.
  5. When all eight answers are found, give them the final puzzle sheet to work out the last code, then take a photo with the winner prop.

What’s in the files

  • Images to save from the post (no combined PDF): wrapper and golden ticket, eight clue cards and puzzles, the final sheet, three answer keys and a winner prop.
  • Colour printer recommended; plain paper works, matte photo paper looks better.
  • Scissors and a glue stick for the decoder box, the colour-strip puzzle and the squirrel cut-out.
  • For a harder game, cut some clue sheets and hide the parts separately.
