About the Christmas Scavenger Hunt Clue Cards
This is the Christmas edition of Kimberly McLeod’s clue-card hunts for The Best Ideas for Kids. Twelve numbered cards, each a short rhyme about Santa, cookies and sleighs, send children to everyday indoor spots: where you keep spoons, where the flour and sugar live, under a couch pillow, in the fridge, under a chair. The final card points to wherever most of the toys are kept, which is where you hide the big surprise.
It is written for any age: the wording (“look below”, “close to”) lets you make hiding spots easy for a four-year-old or sneaky for a ten-year-old. The family that designed it placed a small candy or non-candy treat at each clue, but one prize at the end works too. The PDF is a direct download in the post, with no email signup.
How to play in one minute
- Print the cards and cut them out; read the directions page.
- Hide card 2 with the spoons, card 3 with the flour and sugar, and continue so each card sits where the previous clue points.
- Hide the prize where the children’s toys are kept, away from the rest of the trail.
- Hand over card 1 and let them read, run and search.
- The hunt ends at the prize; add your own extra cards before the last clue to stretch it.
